How to Know if your Roof is Leaking
Without a good protection of the roof, your home may be in jeopardy. There are many things over time that can go wrong with your roof and some of them you may not be aware of. As a roof begins to age and suffer the wear and tear of bad weather it can begin to detonate, and you may not even notice that it is starting to fail until it is too late.
There are a few warning signs that you should be aware of to keep an eye on that all important roof. These items are all things that you should be vigilant about and when you see them, you will know it is time to take a look at getting a new roof.
Go outside when it is raining and take a good look at the flashing around your roof. Do you see any areas where the flashing is damaged? If the water is not dropping off the flashing, it could be backing up into the roof tiles. Good flashing is critical and it is an item that does wear out. Damaged flashing will eventually cause your roof to leak.
Keep an Eye on your Shingles
Go outside and take a good look at your roof. Do you see any missing or bent shingles? Do you notice any wear or corners missing? When you start seeing this, you will know your roof is going to need replacing soon. Water has a knack for finding its way into a structure at the first sign of a bend or wear. Rain, ice, and snow will wear down the shingle and sun damage is also a factor.
